Paired with the Merinosilk Leggings it's one of the most popular natural pyjama sets for children. Worn under a jacket or on its own, it does the same job.

The merino silk blend regulates body temperature in both directions - warming in cold air and releasing heat when your child is moving. It's naturally flame resistant, which matters when children are near heaters or open fires. The rib knit stretches with movement and growth, springs back into shape, and holds its colour wash after wash. Flatlock seams sit flat against the skin with no pressure points under tight layers.

Is merino silk safe for children to sleep in?

Merino wool is naturally flame resistant - it has a higher ignition temperature than most synthetic fibres and doesn't melt onto skin when it does catch. Silk reinforces this property. Neither fibre requires chemical flame retardant treatments, making merino silk a safer choice for children's sleepwear than synthetic alternatives that achieve flame resistance through chemical finishing. OEKO-TEX® certification confirms the fabric is free from harmful chemicals.

What is the difference between merino silk and synthetic base layers for kids?

Synthetic base layers (polyester, nylon) wick moisture but don't regulate temperature - they move sweat away but can leave a child feeling cold and clammy. Merino silk regulates temperature actively, absorbs moisture vapour before it becomes sweat, and resists odour without chemical treatments. It's also biodegradable at end of life, unlike synthetic fibres.
